Class 21-2022 “SALIG-TALA” graduates from the COCBC
Bureau of Corrections, National Headquarters – Class 21-2022 “SALIG-TALA” (Samahan na ang Layunin ay Iwasto at Gabayan ang Nagkasala tungo sa Tagumpay ng ating Lahi) of the Corrections Officer Custodial Basic Course (COCBC), successfully completed their training program on November 6, 2023. The graduation ceremony took place at the Parade Grounds of the New Bilibid Prison, Muntinlupa City.
After enduring physical exercises and academic programs, this significant event has finally come to a conclusion. A total of five hundred two (502) strong and determined trainees from Class 21 “SALIG-TALA”, comprising of three hundred eleven (311) females and one hundred ninety-one (191) males, will now begin a new chapter in their lives as Corrections Officers. Their purpose is to provide quality public service and carry out the mandates of the Bureau.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of USEC DEO L MARCO as the Guest of Honor on behalf of SECRETARY JESUS CRISPIN C REMULLA, together with ASEC FRANCIS JOHN L TEJANO of the Department of Justice (DOJ). Also present were GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), BuCor Director General, ASEC AL I PERRERAS, AFP (Ret.), Deputy Director General for Administration (DDGA) ASEC GIL T TORRALBA, Deputy Director General for Operations (DDGO), C/CSUPT CELSO S BRAVO, OIC-Deputy Director General for Reformation, C/CINSP LUCIO C GUEVARRA, Acting Director, Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI), and distinguished Key Officials and personnel of the Bureau.
Ten (10) outstanding members of the Class 21 “SALIG-TALA” have emerged as the top achievers. Despite the challenging journey of winning supremacy over oneself, they have displayed paramount competence and excellence both in tactics and academics. The following individuals hold the top ranks (1-10, in order): CO1 Jonathan M Carreon, CO1 Jona Joy C Esconde, CO1 Gemaima M Pitong, CO1 Vinabelle C Luma-As, CO1 Abagel A Sinangote, CO1 Maria Fe R Mendoza, CO1 Adeliza D Guban, CO1 Mark Joseph R Antonio, CO1 Annabelle T Liwan and CO1 Ma Erika B Baleña.
Meanwhile, CO1 Joseph G. Valencia received the Leadership Award; CO1 Teotimo E. Taypin Jr. received the Tactical Leadership Award; CO1 Marval T. Bocaug and CO1 Neraldine P. Tomas bagged the Marksmanship Award for the male and female categories, respectively; CO1 Jonathan G. Panga-or and CO1 Sandra R. Dua were awarded the Bernardo Carpio.
The Bureau of Corrections under the leadership of Director General, GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, is committed to continuously increase its personnel in line with the implementation of the BuCor Modernization Law, or RA 10575, addressing the need to provide an additional workforce in each Prison and Penal Farm (PPF).
