Opening Ceremony and Reception Rites of COCBC Class 2024-02

The Corrections National Training Institute (CNTI) hosted the Opening Ceremony and Reception Rites of the 330-strong COCBC Class 2024-02 “DASIG—TIKAS” Decentralization on September 19, 2024, at CNTI Parade Ground, National Headquarters.
The event formally marked the start of training for the new class and was graced by Director General GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret.), CESE, CCLH, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. His presence underscored the importance of the ceremony, which is a crucial part of the career development of future correctional officers.
The Reception Rites was conducted through Applied Training Division (ATD) personnel, including Tactical Non-Commissioned Officers, COCBC CL 2204-01 “KASARIGAN,” Tactical Nurses, the BuCor Security and Escort Command (BSEC), and the Firefighting Unit, ensured the smooth conduct of activities. Representatives from the Public Information Office (PIO) were also on-site to document the event.
The ceremony began with an invocation led by Fr Jess Los Bañez, setting a solemn tone for the day’s proceedings. The Acting Director of CNTI, C/CINSP LUCIO C GUEVARRA, then officially declared the Opening of the training class. Following this, C/INSP ALLAN A ROSALES, ATD Commandant, presented the trainees and led the Reception Rites, introducing them to the rigorous physical and mental challenges that await. This marked the first formal step in their transformation into well-trained correctional officers tasked with upholding the principles of discipline, integrity, and public service.
CT/SUPT DOROTHY C BERNABE, Chief of the Education and Training Division, introduced the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Director General CATAPANG JR. In his keynote address, he emphasized the critical role that corrections officers play in the national justice system. He encouraged the trainees to embrace their duties with courage, dedication, and a commitment to uphold human rights. In his welcome remarks, CSO2 QUIRICO ALIGAGA, Deputy Commandant, expressed his gratitude to the attendees and reiterated the importance of the training program in shaping the future of correctional service.
This marks the beginning of an intensive training period, during which the 330 recruits will undergo a series of activities designed to prepare them for the responsibilities of correctional service. With guidance from dedicated instructors and leaders, the trainees are set to become exemplary officers.
