BuCor Personnel Participate in 127th Independence Day Celebration at Rizal Park for the First Time
A total of 257 personnel from the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) took part in the country’s 127th Independence Day celebration held at Rizal Park in Manila on Wednesday. This marks the first official participation of BuCor in the annual national event and is a result of institutional capacity-building efforts under the leadership of BuCor DIRECTOR GENERAL GREGORIO PIO P CATAPANG JR., AFP (Ret), CESE, CCLH.
The program commenced with a flag-raising ceremony at the Rizal National Monument, attended by national and local officials, members of the uniformed services, and representatives from various sectors. The wreath-laying ceremony, led by PRESIDENT FERDINAND R. MARCOS JR., was conducted in honor of the country’s historical figures who contributed to the attainment of Philippine independence.
Following the ceremonial activities at the monument, the event proceeded to the Quirino Grandstand, where a civic-military parade featured personnel from different uniformed services. The inclusion of the BuCor contingent in the parade highlighted the agency’s integration into wider inter-agency initiatives and public ceremonies.
BuCor’s presence in the Independence Day program is aligned with its ongoing reforms and training program focused on strengthening discipline, professionalism, and institutional accountability.
BuCor’s participation is in support of national efforts to promote civic awareness, historical consciousness, and the role of government personnel in preserving democratic values. The bureau continues to implement structured program aimed at enhancing the performance and public service orientation of its personnel.
